Common questions

Frequently asked

Why is Printora3D cheaper than Shapeways for prototypes?
Two reasons. First, our cost base is in India — labour, electricity and studio rent are a fraction of US/EU rates. Second, Shapeways' sweet spot is exotic SLS, MJF and metal materials, which carry higher per-part costs by chemistry. For a PLA, PETG, ABS or SLA part under $50, our pricing is typically 40-70% lower delivered.
Does Shapeways ship to India?
Yes, Shapeways ships internationally including to India, but you pay the international shipping rate plus Indian customs duty (typically 28-42% of declared value depending on HS code) and you do not receive a GST invoice. For Indian buyers, this usually wipes out any per-part price advantage.
Which has faster turnaround?
For FDM and SLA parts, Printora3D is typically faster end-to-end for buyers anywhere outside the US — 2-4 days print + 3-7 days DHL versus 5-10 days production at Shapeways plus international shipping. For US-domestic orders, Shapeways usually wins on time.
Can Shapeways do something Printora3D cannot?
Yes — sterling silver, brass, bronze and steel-sintering metal prints. We do not run those processes in-house. If your project needs precious-metal printing or industrial-scale SLS, Shapeways is the right tool.
Do I need to choose one or the other?
No — and you should not feel boxed in. Many of our regular customers use Printora3D for everyday prototypes and decor, and switch to Shapeways' metal services for jewellery casts or one-off precious-metal pieces. The platforms are complementary more than competing.
